Minimum wage/Sick leave

Minimum wage rates in the Village of Glenview

The Village Board of Trustees voted February 7, 2019 to opt into the 2017 Cook County ordinance that established a schedule for annually increasing the minimum hourly wage for covered employees. After that action was taken, however, the Illinois General Assembly approved Senate Bill 0001 and Governor Pritzker signed into law Public Act 101-001, which included a schedule of minimum wage increases, the first of which will take effect statewide January 1, 2020. Because the Village ordinance was set to be automatically repealed upon passage of an applicable state law, it therefore has no force and effect, and no increase took effect July 1, 2019 under the Cook County ordinance.

Earned sick leave in the Village of Glenview

The Village Board of Trustees voted February 7, 2019 to opt into the Cook County Sick Leave Ordinance, which establishes a right to paid sick leave for employees of employers in Cook County, effective in the Village of Glenview July 1, 2019.

Should the Illinois General Assembly pass an applicable sick leave law, the Village ordinance would be automatically repealed.
