Part Time Cashier


​The Village of Glenview seeks a part-time Cashier to work in the Administrative Services Department. The purpose of this position is to perform routine administrative and customer service support functions in the Village’s Resolution Center by serving as the primary point of contact to the public. The Cashier is responsible for handling and processing cash, checks, and credits cards and balancing a cash drawer daily. Also, the Cashier will provide administrative assistance by answering the telephones, faxes, and e-mails; greeting and assisting walk-in visitors; problem solving customer concerns and educating them on Village programs, policies or ordinances; copying or scanning documents, and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external customers. This position may also support the Village’s Administrative Adjudication program and is responsible for preparing court documents, serving as main contact in Court Room, and documenting fines/fees. The Administrative Adjudication process occurs at least once per month, is hosted at the Village Hall, and may impact requests for time off.

  • Proficient typing and data entry skills.
  • 1 or more years of related work experience in an office environment.
  • Have the ability to multi- task, and maintain composure in a fast- paced environment.
  • Proficient at performing basic arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of MS Office software, specifically utilizing Excel and Word mail merge functionality.
  • Prior experience with Munis (Tyler Technologies) financial software is a plus, but not required.
  • Candidate must be willing to work on average 16-26 hours per week, Monday-Friday from 7:55am- 5:10pm, as well as additional hours on occasion to provide support during Village emergencies. Additional hours may be requested as needed.  Generally, the schedule will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 7:55am- 5:10pm, and is subject to change based on the operational needs of the Village.

The hiring process includes, but is not limited to, oral interview, background investigation, post-offer medical examination and drug screening. A computer-based skills and/or situational judgment test may also be part of the hiring process. ​The starting base pay rate is $17.50/ hr. or DOQ, with no fringe benefits. Employees consistently and continuously working more than 20 hours per week may be eligible for IMRF.
