Customer Service Representative- Records (Part Time)

DESCRIPTION:

The Village of Glenview seeks a part-time Customer Service Representative to work in the Police Records Division. The purpose of this position is to perform administrative and customer service functions. This is accomplished by compiling, updating and maintaining accurate records of Police Department files and providing quality customer service for internal and external customers. Duties may include processing arrest paperwork, entering tickets and court transmittals, processing commuter parking permit applications and payments, processing subpoenas and expungements, supporting Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, completing background checks, and processing various payments. This position also answers the non-emergency Police and Fire telephone calls, greets and assists walk-in visitors to the Police Department, provides problem solving for customer concerns, educates customers on Village programs, policies or ordinances, maintains internal files, manuals and original documents, copies or scans documents, and interacts with other law enforcement agencies to obtain or provide information.  Other duties completing a variety of general tasks and projects as assigned.  This position reports directly to the Police Records Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, and one or more years of related work experience. Ideal candidate will possess a solid working knowledge of MS Office, web-based computer software programs and New World Records Management System (or other police computer record management system). Munis financial software a plus, but not required. Ideal candidate is energetic and dedicated to ensuring customer concerns are resolved in a courteous, professional and timely manner.  The position also requires strong organizational skills, solid typing skills, good judgment, confidentiality and the ability to multi-task under time constraints.  The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to respond and interact with the public. This position is for approximately 18-20 hours per week based on a mutually agreed upon schedule. The Police Records Division hours of operation are Mon-Fri, 8am to 6pm; this position is required to support staff coverage between these hours as needed, and  occasional call back to provide support during Village emergencies.   

SALARY:

$17.50 per hour.  The conditional offer for the positon will be subject to a successful background check including criminal history inquiry and drug test.
