Project description
Glenview and Northbrook are jointly constructing a 2-mile, 8- to 10-foot-wide multi-use path along the east side of Shermer Road between West Lake Avenue and Willow Road, including under the Union Pacific Railroad overpass. The path will accommodate both pedestrians and cyclists, and is an extension of the existing path on West Lake Avenue. It will also connect to the Techny Trail regional system; the trail system along Willow Road in Northbrook; several Metra stations; The Glen Town Center; and downtown districts.
Just under $1 million from a federal grant will cover 80 percent of the project, with Glenview and Northbrook splitting the remaining $288,000 cost.
- November 20, 2018 -- Authorized a bid award to Baxter & Woodman Inc. of Crystal Lake for Phase III engineering services and authorized the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) federal fund appropriation
- August 20, 2019 -- Executed construction-related expenditures through the Illinois Department of Transportation and an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village of Northbrook
