The Village of Glenview

This year, CHARACTER COUNTS! of Glenview celebrates 20 years of promoting the Six Pillars of Character. In honor of this anniversary, a video (above) was produced to highlight the impact that a character education has had on students in the Northbrook and Glenview communities.

The mission of CHARACTER COUNTS! in Glenview is to provide leadership and coordination that encourage the understanding and practice of character development based on the Six Pillars of Character:

  • Trustworthiness
  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Fairness
  • Caring
  • Citizenship

CHARACTER COUNTS! in Glenview is comprised of 24 caring committee members and a team of 16 trustworthy advisory members. In addition, the advisory and committee rosters are made up of responsible individuals from the community and dedicated representatives from local organizations and schools. Fifty-plus respectful business owners and charter community partners also support the organization.

CHARACTER COUNTS! in Glenview sponsors a poster/video contest in the fall, an essay contest in the spring, and an annual canned food drive; and participates in the Glenview Summer Festival, the July 4th parade and many other community events.

The Village Board of Trustees heard a report about the new CHARACTER COUNTS! in Glenview program at its October 1, 1996 meeting. Read the minutes here.
